Drawing on family photographs, community archives and oral storytelling, Kamal Badhey’s work explores how personal and collective histories become intertwined across different diasporas.
Through her photographic projects Portals and Passageways and Ancestral Portraits of Descendants, alongside her collaborative research with the families of the Apna Heritage Archive, Kamal will share how memory is shaped, shared and transmitted amongst community and across generations. This talk will also reflect on how exhibiting photography in collectives and non-traditional spaces can reveal hidden stories and experiences. Part of an initiative by Young Creatives Collective, Peter Marlow Foundation and The Refugee Buddy Project to create a community archiving lab for Bexhill
